Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic, P.C.
Psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care for adults, children, adolescents and families
since 1977
Atlanta Area family Psychiatry Clinic Practices and Philosophy:

Psychotherapists: Elsewhere, due to pressure from managed care companies and insurance limitations, many psychiatrists no longer practice psychotherapy. At the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic all our psychiatrists as well as our psychologist and clinical social workers are fully trained and  experienced psychotherapists with a wide range of psychotherapeutic skills and interests. Through collaboration we hone our skills and maintain the highest level of proficiency.

Continuing Medical Education: As a private full service psychiatric clinic, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality and most up to date care for our patients. All of our practitioners participate in on going continuing education in a variety of ways. We attend our professional society meetings and Continuing Medical Education (CME) lectures throughout the year. We collectively subscribe to over 25 clinical journals and professional publications most of which arrive monthly. Our staff present at medical educational seminars are available with advance notice for presentations on relevant topics to community groups.

Weekly Educational/Clinical Staff Meeting: We have held a weekly staff meeting on Tuesdays at 10:00 am since the inception of the Atlanta Area Family Psychiatry Clinic in 1977. In this meeting we frequently bring in outside speakers to present programs of clinical interest or new information about resources for our patients or new treatment developments.

Case Consultation: Our clinicians on occasion use the weekly meeting to discuss clinical issues with cases they are treating and receive input from other practitioners within the clinic. If your therapist feels there is a need for additional input in your treatment they will first discuss the indication with you and obtain your permission. You may also request through your therapist that your care be presented for collaboration. Regardless, any collaboration will be done while protecting the anonymity of the individual whose situation is being considered. It is through this professional association that we are able to provide the highest level of care for you and your family. In essence, this process becomes a consultation about your care without extra expense.

Multimedia Staff Development: Beginning in 2008, we have installed a full multimedia education center that is utilized in our Tuesday professional staff meeting. Using state of the art media we can share educational DVD's, podcasts, power point presentations or reviiew clinically relevant information on the Internet and display it on a high definition large screen television or discussion wthin our group.

It is through these initiatives that our physicians maintain a the highest level of sophistication in psychopharmacological (medication) practices and new treatment developments and all our therapists stay abreast of psychotherapeutic, medical and pharmacological techniques.
